Remove Bargain Buddy
Bargain Buddy has been known to be installed by versions of LimeWire, MThree Mp3 tools and even the Net2Phone CommCenter as an Internet Explorer Browser Helper Object.
While browsing on the internet, based on your keyword searches, Bargain Buddy will open up a pop-up window that will contain some advertising. It will also track your
internet surfing activity and keywords that you have searched on. You might say that you have a pop-up blocker, but remember that this program is still running on your
computer taking up your valuable bandwidth and processing power. Webroot Spy Sweeper
identifies this as an adware program that should be removed from your computer. Spysweeper will also remove many other spyware and adware programs
that you may not even know is installed.
To manually remove BargainBuddy follow the below instructions (Make sure you know what you are doing):
- First check your add/remove programs to see if their is an installer. With some of the newer versions, an installer may not be present.
- If you find that an uninstaller for BargainBuddy does not exists, then do the following:
- Get yourself to a dos prompt, for windows xp, click on "start" in the lower left hand corner and then click on "run". Type "cmd" and then hit enter
- On windows xp, You will need to change your directory by typing in the following "cd \windows\system".
- type in: regsvr32 /u "\Program Files\Bargain Buddy\bin2\apuc.dll" (based on the version, you may receive an error message).
- type in: regsvr32 /u "\Program Files\Net2Phone CommCenter\CC_Versn.dll" (based on the version, you may receive an error message).
- press ctrl - alt -delete at the same time to bring up your running processes and look for "Bargains" and then "end task".
- You can then go ahead and delete the folder where you found the above dll's that you unregistered. Please careful to only delete these folders.
- you then should click on "start" in the lower left hand corner and then "run". This time, type in "regedit".
- search for the following registry keys and delete them:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run -*Look for an entry that says "bargain buddy".
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Bargains
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\adp
