Remove DSSAgent
DSSAgent was bundled with software from Broderbund Software with all of its Broderbund and Learning Company titles as of 2002. The whole purpose behind DSSAgent was to allow software developers the opportunity to change their splash screens as needed. The problem with DSSAgent is the fact that it hammers dns servers to communicate back with it's servers. Corporate Network engineers go nuts over this because of all the additional traffic. As a home user, you would be more concerned with the fact that it does slow your computer down.
To remove DSSAgent, just follow the below instructions. We recommend that if you are not confortable modifying your computer registry that you use spyware removal from
Webroot Spy Sweeper.
Right click on your lower tast bar and choose "Task Manager"
- Kill these running processes with Task Manager:
- systemroot+\bbstore\dss\dssagent.exedssagent.exe
- Remove these registry items (if present) with RegEdit:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\broderbund software\dss
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\broderbund software\dss
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\shareddlls \c:\windows\bbstore\dss\dssagent.exe
- Remove these files (if present) with Windows Explorer:
- systemroot+\bbstore\dss\dssagent.exedssagent.exe
- dssregistry.ini
