Remove WildTangent

If you are looking for another reason to purchase a tool to remove WildTangent; read on. Have you have updated your AOL instant messager to version 5.5? If so, you were just given a big adware kiss. The WildTangent site says that its platform is only for enabling devices for high-quality online games. In addition, companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Gateway also deliver it preinstalled on many of their machines too.

According to the privacy statement from WildTangent; "it may collect name, address, phone number, e-mail, and other contact information and, with your consent, may share this information with other parties. It also collects information such as your CPU speed, video card configuration, and DirectX version. The information is used for tuning WildTangent's games and product offerings, and if shared, will only be shared in an aggregated manner, without identification".

To manually remove this adware:

From "Start" - "Run" - regedit

Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run.

In the right side pane look for the value "wcmdmgr" and delete it.

Close Regedit and restart your machine.

Remove the subfolder "WT" from your WINDOWS or WINNT folder.
